Matthew Little

matthew littleMatthew Little was born in Hertfordshire and began his musical career at an early age as a boy chorister and trombonist with the Hertfordshire county Youth Orchestra. He went on to study at Trinity College of Music, London graduating in 1992 before joining Royal Air Force Music Services as a bass trombonist and vocalist with the Central Band of the RAF.

Now a Director of Music/Flight Lieutenant for the Band of the RAF Regiment he has appeared as a vocal soloist at many memorable engagements with RAF Music Services over the past 20 years. These include the Festival of Remembrance, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Songs of Praise (BBC) and the Royal Military Tattoo. For the RAF he has been the main soloist for their concert tour for the RAF Charitable Trust, performing at the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Concert Hall, Manchester Bridgewater Hall and the Festival Hall to name but a few. For 16 years Matthew was the lead vocalist with the RAF Squadronaires, enjoying many concerts all around the country, in particular at Ronnie Scotts in London. For the RAF Matthew is the conductor, composer and arranger for the Band of the RAF Regiment, having been commissioned for 6 years, he has received commendations on the New Years Honours list for large scale concerts held at RAF College Cranwell. In 2013 Matthew was delighted to be a featured soloist as part of West End Heroes at the Dominion Theatre London receiving glowing reviews from West End critics.

Away from the RAF, Matthew has performed as a session singer in London for 21 years beginning with the Stephen Hill Singers, primarily performing on Friday Night is Music Night, then moving on to be a part of Capital Voices for Annie Skates, where he was utilised as a booth singer for Cats, Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Starlight Express. Television appearances include the Royal Variety Performance, X Factor and the National Lottery with Capital Voices. He has also provided vocals for film soundtracks including Cats, Phantom of the Opera and Around the World in 80 Days. He has toured Scandinavia with Jesus Christ Superstar and Fame! with West End International. In recent years he has performed in the John Wilson Proms in particular as a featured soloist in 2011, as well as on tours of We’ll Meet Again with Angela Rippon and June Whitfield, and White Christmas for Raymond Gubbay. Amongst numerous recordings he has recorded albums for Michael Ball and “That’s Entertainment”, MGM Musicals for John Wilson. Other concert performances include the Legend of Zelda with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and also a concert tour with the BBC Concert Orchestra with Danny Elfman.
